Elks National Foundation 2012 Most Valuable Student Scholarship Contest

The Elks Lodge of Huntsville #1648 is offering four-year scholarship awards of $1,000. Each year the Huntsville Lodge #1648 awards 20 scholarships. The application deadline is March 23, 2012. Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation

The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation is offering their annual scholarship. They are awarding $3 million in scholarships to high school seniors who demonstrate leadership, commitment to community, and academic achievement. PSAT for 11th & 10th Grade Students

The PSAT is a test that is given to 11th & 10th grade students once a year. This year's test is on Wednesday October 12th, 2011. All Junior and Sophomore students are encouraged to take the P.S.A.T.. This test helps a student reach National Merit, National Achievement, or National Hispanic semi-finalist, and finalist status. It is a very inexpensive way to get practice on a National standardized test. If a New Century Technology 11th or 10th grade student is interested in taking the P.S.A.T. bring $15.00 dollars to counselor Watson to sign up for the test.

Vandy Fan For A Day

The Vandy Fan For A Day program provides high school sophomores and juniors of diverse socioeconomic backgrounds with information about Vandy. New Century can nominate up to 5 sophomores & 5 juniors to attend a University of Vanderbilt football game on Saturday November 12th, 2011. The deadline to let Counselor Watson know if you are interested in attending Vandy Fan Day is Thursday September 15th, 2011.

ACT Video Contest

The ACT corporation is offering scholarships for the top 10 original videos that answer the question, “Why Take the ACT?” To find out more about this opportunity go to www.actstudent.org .

The Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship

The 2012-2013 Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship is a $1,000 one time scholarship. To be eligible to be nominated for this scholarship a student must have a 2.8 or higher G.P.A., and have demonstrated leadership abilities in school activities. The student must have a strong commitment to community involvement. New Century Technology High School can only nominate one student for this award. An Evening With The University Of Virginia

Representatives of the University of Virginia will be offering an evening program at the Emmet O'Neal Library on Wednesday September 14, 2011. The exact location is the Emmet O'Neal Library 50 Oak Street Birmingham, Al. 35213. Senior Assistant Dean of Admissions Senem Kudat Ward and a panel of recent graduates will be their to explain the admission process. Huntsville City Schools College Day & College Night

Huntsville City Schools will be offering college day and college night on Thursday, September 8, 2011. College day & night is sponsored by the University of Alabama in Huntsville at their fitness center. The College day is for 12th & 11th grade students. New Century's time to attend the day session is from 12:30 p.m.--1:30 p.m.. Only students are allowed to attend the day session. The night session is for all students grades 9-12. Parents are allowed to attend the night session which is from 6-8 p.m. There will be over 75 representatives from 4-year and 2 year colleges/universities; technical, vocational and business colleges; and the military, they will be available to answer questions and to provide information.

West Point Admissions Academy Information Session

There will be a West Point admissions and Academy information session on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. The location will be at the Madison Public Library, 130 Plaza Blvd. Madison, Al. 35758. The event offers interested students and parents the opportunity to learn about West Point, the admissions process and life as an Army officer. You can pick-up West Point material; and talk to experts in the field.

The University of South Alabama USA DAY

The University of South Alabama will be hosting their fall USA DAY on November 19th, 2011. USA DAY is a special Saturday campus visitation day for prospective undergraduate students and their parents, held on the Main Campus in Mobile. Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. and the program will start promptly at 9:00 a.m. The day should conclude around 2:30 p.m., complimentary lunch is provided. Veterans of Foreign Wars Premier Scholarship Program

The Veterans of Foreign Wars is offering their premier scholarship program that includes a top scholarship of $30,000. Students compete by writing and recording a broadcast script on a patriotic theme. This year's theme is "There is pride in serving in our military." To find out more details see counselor Watson. Gates Millennium Scholars

The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) Program will select the next cohort of 1,000 students in the 2011-12 academic year as Gates Millennium Scholars. This is a renewable need based scholarship designed for minority students. This is a leadership scholarship. A students must have at least a 3.3 G.P.A. to apply.
